Sunday in San Francisco, at City Lights Bookstore
A wonderful afternoon! A crowd gathered for music and readings on one of those SF fogged-in soft-focus lens days. We all were there to celebrate 60 years of books. You have to love this gathering, with wind temperatures and sensibilities in the 60’s.
Books and poets are alive and well here. The groaning wooden staircase to the basement poetry reading pushed back to front on the upside with book buyers with arms loaded, and a line moving downside with listeners. We’re in a current passion, fighting it out to own publishing terrain. There’s proof that we still want the written word in the form of paper pages.
